Kate Spade-Inspired Initial Sweatshirt

This is our first post on our new blog, and we're so excited to share it with you! There are very, very few girls who don't adore Kate Spade-- the beautiful brand, their products and the KS lifestyle, is such an inspiration to us. We love the super feminine, yet fun and flirty, styles- full of bright colors and just the right amount of sass! This DIY version of a Kate Spade Saturday sweatshirt is oh-so-easy to make (it's a NO-SEW, yay!) and is a perfect addition to your wardrobe. You can dress is up or dress it down and it adds that touch of quirkiness to your look. Unfortunatly, KS Saturday products are no longer available, but with this quick DIY, you can add this comfy sweatshirt to your closet.

An additional plus! The KS version was $98 and you can make your version for around $15! Can't beat that!

Supplies:

1. Sweatshirt (this is ours)

2. Cotton fabric (1/4 yard, you'll have plenty extra)

3. Heat and Bond Ultra-Hold

4. Iron

5. Scissors/exacto knife

6. Printer and paper

Steps:

1. Find a block print of our initial on the internet.

2. Rotate the letter so it is the mirror image.

3. Print out a full-page size of the letter.

4. Cut out the letter, this will become your stencil.

5. Align the rough side of the Heat and Bond (not the side with the paper) to the BACKSIDE of the applique fabric. Iron the two pieces together (follow the instructions on the package). Let cool.

6. Trace your letter stencil onto the fabric-transfer sheet. Cut it out using your Exacto knife.

7. Place the applique on the sweatshirt (check in the mirror to make sure it's positioned the way you want it). Peel off the paper backing and press the appliqué down onto your shirt.

8. Iron down the applique. Again, follow the instructions on the package, but keep your iron on the cotton setting and iron down for at least 30 seconds on each area. Let it cool!

9. Enjoy your new KS Saturday sweatshirt!
